Tourism

Sao Tome and Principe is internationally well known for its unparalleled natural beauty. It is the most well-preserved insular tourist destination in Equatorial Africa, with heavenly beaches surrounded by an exuberant nature and available for use all year. In this sector, high-value niche tourism can be developed that leverages natural assets, such as exploitation of luxury ecotourism, and patrimonial assets, particularly through conversion of networks of plantation fields for tourism and housing.

Agriculture

The quality of the soil and the humid tropical climate of Sao Tome and Principe make its natural products distinctive in the international market. An agriculture of exploitation of premium crops, such as cocoa, coffee, pepper and vanilla, as well as finished products of high value, can be developed in this field.

Fishing

Sao Tome and Principe possesses a vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of more than 160,000 km2, with immense maritime potential to be explored. . In the fishing sector, the most important fishery resources are the large pelagics (tuna), the small pelagics (chicory and mackerel), and the demersal fish (grouper), among other species.

Renewable Energies

Within the framework of the country’s Transformation Agenda, it is necessary to open up energy resources, with utilizing the water potential, through exploitation of mini-hydroelectric plants of the private sector.

Economic Infrastructures

In addition to the development of major structural projects such as oil exploration, there is a hub for transshipment at the port that promotes port clearance, enhances exports, and an airport hub for transformation and unblocking of the airport with frequent regional connections.
