Development Orientation

The Outline of the 14th Five-year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 supports Macao in enriching itself as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, working with Guangdong to develop Hengqin, and expanding its function as a Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSCs), in order to develop Macao into a “base of exchange and co-operation with traditional Chinese culture as mainstream and other cultures flourishing in harmony”. In the meantime, the Outline also supports Macao in developing various industries such as traditional Chinese medicine research, development and manufacturing, featured finance, high technology, MICE and trade to promote a moderately diversified economy.
